Voting for the 2020 FleuroStar Award is underway

KUDELSTAART, Netherlands: Voting for the coveted FleuroStar Award is underway. A candidate plant line-up opened at Takii’s subsidiary in Kudelstaart on Tuesday 9 June and will continue until Wednesday, 10 June.  More than 30 industry professionals from a cross-section of breeding, production, plant retail, marketing and media will choose the ‘winner with the Wow factor’.  Judges can cast their vote in person or by Zoom.

Fleuroselect’s Sally van der Horst and Ann Jennen are proud to present the entries in this year’s virtual FleuroStar contest. Each of these new introductions vies to be the next ‘Winner with the Wow Factor’, the variety with the highest visual impact at point of sale. Last year, the honour of winning the FleuroStar award went to  Begonia elatior MacaRouge from Beekenkamp. This year, five new FleuroStar nominees will battle it out to win Fleuroselect’s prestigious accolade.

Due to the ongoing situation related to Covid-19,  FlowerTrials have been cancelled and the FleuroStar Contest as we know it at 9 locations cannot take place this year. Therefore, a digital edition is organised: all candidate and winner promotion will take place via the trade media and social channels. An online 2020 contest will ensure the continuity of what has become a landmark event in ornamentals, while adapting the concept to the ‘new normal’.

The winner of the 2020 FleuroStar Award will be announced on Thursday afternoon 18 June during an award ceremony that will be broadcasted live (Zoom, Fleuroselect website and Facebook).

Fleuroselect will invite a representatives of each participating company to a location where we will hold a short ceremony (30 min). Each company will have the opportunity to present its candidate, followed by the winner announcement.
