Handover marks the final step towards the world’s most promising rose gardens

ALMERE, Netherlands: The Culture Group for Roses and Rootstocks -with its secretariat running under the Dutch industry body Anthos, and part of the Trees, Perennials and Summer Flowers department of sector body LTO – is building two rose garden at Floriade; one to inspire garden retailers and consumers, the second one to drive sales in the landcape market.

Friday 21 January marked the official transfer of the plot from Floriade to its new temporary owners.

The Culture Group’s chairwoman Hetty Crooijmans carried out a site inspection and subsequently put her signature to the transfering papers. Then, Floriade’s Rosalie Kambong presented her with the keys for electricity and water.

Floriade opens in the Netherlands on 14 April 2022; the AIPH-approved A1 World Horticultural Expo will demonstrate to citizens how thriving in a ‘living library of trees and plants’ is more fun, sustainable and healthier than surviving in a concrete jungle.

Croojmans told FCI that her team has planted the vast majority of roses, while laying the garden paths is ‘work in progress’.

The retail Rose Garden has the ‘Roses, a jewel for your garden, with love’ theme. The tagline for the garden planted with landcape roses  is ‘Roses for sustainable green cities, with love’. Their shared message to the Floriade visitor is that roses are unthinkable in the gardens and urban green spaces of the future.
