AALSMEER, Netherlands: Flower exporter Barendsen will join OZ-Hami, part of Dutch Flower Group (DFG), effective 1 January 2022.

Barendsen has been exporting fresh cut flowers to wholesale companies, event & wedding planners and leading florists for more than 100 years.

The company’s 70 employees in Aalsmeer prepare custom orders for customers in more than 35 countries around the world, including Switzerland, France and Spain. Alongside its export activities, Barendsen benefits from having its own network of growers in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and South America, who produce special types of cut flowers.

Barendsen was looking for a committed partner to help grow its customer portfolio. OZ-Hami, which incorporates the OZ Export, Hamifleurs and Van Dam export businesses, fitted the bill.

Jan de Boer, Managing Director of Barendsen, said: “From the Barendsen brand’s perspective, becoming part of OZ-Hami is a very positive step for our organisation, our customers and our grower network. We’re gaining a committed partner with whom we’ll be able to continue growing our customised delivery business.”

Richard Koenen, OZ-Hami Commercial Director added: “Barendsen’s expertise in intricate logistics, together with the specific range of flowers produced by its associated growers, are a perfect complement to the activities that we, at OZ-Hami, want to develop for our customers in the future.”

Barendsen ranks among the oldest of flower exporting companies in the Netherlands.  A Barendsen catalogue/price list from 1931 reports that the iconic firm is to exhibit in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Barendsen will continue to be presented in the market as an independent company.
