Esperit Plants to acquire tropical plant grower Kwekerij De Amstel

‘s-GRAVENZANDE, Netherlands: Dutch-based tropical plant grower Esperit Plants has reached an agreement to buy Kwekerij De Amstel, a highly reputable household name that has built its reputation by growing premium Ficus. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The official transfer of the Kwekerij De Amstel business to Esperit Plants is set to take place on 1 January 2021 when De Amstel will continue to trade as Esperit Plants. Apart from the name change, the product portfolio, including Ficus benjamina, Ficus binnendijkii, Ficus elastic, Ficus microcarpa, Aglaonema, Zamioculcas, Schefflera, Sansevieria, and Dracaena as well as the contacts and service, will stay the same.

Kwekerij De Amstel owner Huub van Diemen and Jan van Geest (Esperit Plants) have known each other for many years and their long term collaboration resulted in the acquisition of De Amstel’s cutting business in 2014 by Esperit Plants.

With De Amstel integrating into Esperit Plants, the company will have five production locations in the Westland and Aalsmeer, each with specialising in their field of expertise.
