Japan National Day at Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar

On Sunday, 14 January, Japan celebrated its National Day at Expo 2023 Doha.

The Japanese delegation, which included Mr Satoshi Maeda, Ambassador of Japan to Qatar, Mr Takahashi Mitsuo, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senoma Yasuhiro, President of Yokohama City Council, Mr KOMURA Masato, Secretary-General of Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, Mr Manabu Sakai, Chairperson, Special Mission Committee for promotion of International Horticultural Expo Yokohama, and Mr Yasuhiro Senoma, Manager for Secretariat Division, City of Yokohama, joined other esteemed guests, including Expo 2023 Doha Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr Mohammed Ali Al Khouri.

The commemorations began with an official ritual that included the playing of the national anthem of Japan and the state of Qatar, followed by a flag-raising ceremony at the National Stage near the Expo House.

National Days are significant events for A1 World Horticultural Expos. They provide visitors with unique cultural programs and offer an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic and business relations. The observance of National Days holds great importance for A1 World Horticultural Expos, as they provide a platform for showcasing unique cultural programs and foster opportunities for enhancing diplomatic and business relations.

The Japanese delegation and their Qatari counterparts then visited the Japanese pavilion within the international zone, where they immersed themselves in the flower-arranging art demonstrating the use of native Japanese plants and enjoyed the tranquillity of the pavilion’s garden.

Finally, the delegation made their way to the AIPH Pavilion and Garden, where Ms Elena Terekhova, AIPH International Relations Manager, gave them a tour and discussed AIPH initiatives.
