The 5th Holland Dahlia Event 2021 is cautiously scheduling in-person events

While nothing is certain in these unprecedented topsy-turvy times, organisers of the fifth edition of the Holland Dahlia Event (1-3 September 2021) are planning to host a ‘Fairy Tale’- themed flower show at Keukenhof castle and open house events plus show gardens.

Organisers iBulb, the marketing arm of the Dutch flower bulb sector, has partnered with the Clusius College in Alkmaar. A group of around 18 end-of-year students will work on a number of Dahlia installations around Keukenhof Castle.

The theme will be ‘Fairy Tale Wedding’, fiting in nicely with the romantic garden of Keukenhof, where many bridal couples have their pictures taken on their wedding day.

The Dahlia show offers an opportunity for the students doing the “Flower & Design” major to put everything they have learned into practice. At Clusius College, green is seen as the foundation for a colourful future and – as luck might have it – Dahlias can provide the colours!

Meanwhile, the planting of tubers is in full swing at the various visiting locations and the Dahlia show gardens. People are working hard behind the scenes to create mosaics with Dahlia-flowers.

This year, the Holland Dahlia Event will take place from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 September 2021.

At the 2021 Holland Dahlia Event cut flower growers, tuber growers, tuber exporters and service providers can find out about the latest production techniques, marketing and promotion efforts and breeding breakthroughs in the Dutch Dahlia industry.

The Holland Dahlia Event offers export and trading companies the perfect opportunity to choose varieties for their assortments.

In the Netherlands, the majority of dahlias are grown and traded in a region between Leiden and Haarlem; this is also where the leading flower producers, tuber producers and export companies specialising in these tubers are located. The Holland Dahlia Event thus makes it easy to visit more than one of these companies in a single day. The companies that will be open to trade visitors include:

The available visiting locations are usually open to visitors in the period from mid-August until the end of September 2021, in compliance with the applicable rules at the time.
