ISU’s Happy Summer Days are here again

BONN, Germany: Perennial plant breeders, growers, propagators and crop technicians from around the world will convene in the Netherlands for the 2022 ISU Summer Days, to be held between 7-11 August, 2022.

ISU stands for the International Hardy Plant Union (ISU) and its annual summer meeting offers attendees knowledge sharing and fun.

ISU will host its General Assembly on day one at the Ampt van Nijkerk hotel between 8am-10am.

One of the highlights of the event is a visit to ISU’s trial fields at Halve Raak 54 in Boskoop. The ISU garden will treat perennials professionals to 50 new test varieties. The ISU-trial commission will present the ISU Awards after a joint, final assessment.

The perennial nurseries in the Netherlands are very diverse and well-networked both in the country and internationally. ISU Summer Days will take participants onto a company tour including visits to both small and large plant nurseries. In Boskoop, Rijnbeek Perennials and Boot&Dart will showcase the latest in perennials. In the northern part of the country plant nurseries Heutinck, Cruydt-Hoeck and Arjan Schepers are ready to take ISU members around their production sites. Also on the agenda are trips to the world horticultural expo Floriade in Almere, and the Dutch Wave Garden designed by Piet Oudolf.

In 2019, Poland hosted the last ISU gathering in pre pandemic times. It brought together over 60 participants from 13 countries. Starting in Wrocław the programme, prepared in collaboration with plant propagator Vitroflora from Bygdoszcz, took the participants to five Polish nurseries as well as botanical gardens and private plant collections.
