2018 IFTF show wraps up on a positive note

Show organiser HPP is pleased to announce an increase in attendance at the annual International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF) held this year from 7 – 9 November 2018 at the Expo Haarlemmermeer Convention Centre in Vijfhuizen, the Netherlands.

True to tradition, Wednesday – the fair’s opening day, saw the highest number of visitors of the three days, whilst on Friday visitors experienced a more relaxed atmosphere. Show organiser HPP say they are delighted with the positive feedback they have received from visitors and exhibitors.

The 2018 IFTF hosted 253 exhibitors amongst an upbeat atmosphere. A sizeable number of buyers attended including some from Rwanda and Iran. There was, however, a remarkable decline in buyers vising from Russia, but HPP added that overall visitors numbers were higher than last year.

Over 30,000 industry professionals attended this year – equating to a 12% increase on 2017 attendance figures. Professionals from the world’s €7 billion flower and plant sector thronged the aisles to do business with the industry’s most innovative fresh cut flower, cut foliage and pot plant suppliers.

The event also offered an excellent opportunity to see the newest trends in technology, equipment and supplies for ornamental horticulture. With a number of exhibitors already rebooked for the 2019 show, IFTF is in a strong position for next year.  Show organizer Dick van Raamsdonk thanked visitors, exhibitors and trade associations for their continuing support.

Debuting this year at IFTF was the Iranian Society for Ornamental Plants (ISOP). The society was one of the exhibitors of the Iranian Country Pavilion managed by the International Exhibitions Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Khazar Eurasia Co.

Founded in 2013, ISOP comprises a team of experts actively engaged in ornamental plants and flower-related issues and its mission is to apply professional skills towards improving the quality of production and act as a bridge between international companies and the domestic market. ISOP President Pejman Azadi told FCI the Iranian exhibitors had their finest hour on IFTF’s opening day with his excellency Dr. Alireza Jahangiri, Iran’s ambassador to the Netherlands visiting Iran’s pavilion.
