Floriade 2022 partners with further education schools

ALMERE, Netherlands: The AIPH-approved World Horticultural Expo Floriade is to partner with horticultural schools MBO College Almere and MBO College Poort. Both institutions are in the Expo’s host city of Almere. They are offering young students a chance to contribute to the preparations and organisation each in their field of expertise.

Mark Vlasblom, president of the board of the Regional Education Centre Flevoland (ROC Flevoland) and Pieter Cloo (pictured left), Floriade Expo director put their signatures under the partnership agreement on 15 September.

The apprenticeship programme will combine work-based, on-the-job learning with relevant education in both the classroom and the offices of Floriade. The new partnership benefits Floriade as well by proving a fresh source of talent. Students in Marketing & Communication, for example, will be asked to develop content on social media to attract adolescents and young adults to the Expo.

An apprenticeship will give those following a security guard training hands-on experience by contributing to security projects at Floriade’s premises.
Monday 14 September marked 19 months to go until the opening of the Floriade Expo 2022 on 14 April 2022.

Floriade Preview (until 1 November) offers an exciting behind the scenes view of the greatest horticultural Expo on earth.
