Dutch growers give chrysanthemums to Russian health care workers

ST PETERSBURG, Russia: Dutch growers, breeders and plant propagators, united in the pr campaign JustChrys, presented healthcare professionals with a colourful chrysanthemum bouquet to thank them for their incredible efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

A blooming surprise awaited the more than 2,000 doctors and nurses on Thursday 2 September at St Petersburg’s giant General Hospital Nr 2.  With the floral gift, the Dutch chrysanthemum industry expresses its gratitude to the hospital’s healthcare workers, the people that are so essential to keep the Russian society afloat.

Dutch Chrysanthemums are a firm favourite with Russian consumers. They are ubiquitous: as a symbol of a long and happy life.

The initiative stems from a committee that has brought together the floral design institute Magenta, floral wholesaler 7Flowers, the Dutch Consulate General in St Petersburg, and marketing agency Sobolj.

JustChrys is a pr campaign to change the image of chrysanthemums.

In JustChrys breeder’s and propagator’s association Chryson (Armada, Deliflor, Dekker Chrysanten, Dümmen Orange, Floritec and Royal Van Zanten) work together utilising practical know-how, market research and innovative thinking. The project embraces all aspects of marketing including product photography, floral arrangements, charity actions, events, advertising and POS to present a new, unconventional image of the Chrysanthemum.
