The Dutch flower bulb and perennial plant trade, under the banner of the ‘Sustainable Suppliers of Horticultural Quality Products’ foundation, has signed up to the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI2025), pledging its commitment to global indicators of sustainability.

Established in 2017, the foundation’s aim is to be at the forefront of sustainability and quality management. The Sustainable Suppliers of Horticultural Quality Products, comprised of Royal Park Living Gardens, Florex, M. Thoolen, Fred de Meulder, M&G, Breck’s, JUB, Moolenaar, Bruno Nebelung, Kapiteyn, Total Green Holland, CS Weijers, Kebol, Tuberbulbs Export, Royal De Ree, Van Zyverden, Jansen’s Overseas, Lubbe Lisse, Tulpen NL, QFB Gardening and CSW, sees membership of FSI2025 as the next step towards a more sustainable and resilient flower bulb, potted bulb and perennial plant sector.

FSI2025, the most important sustainability initiative in the floriculture sector, has more than 80 members, including producers, traders and retailers.

Over the next two years, the signatories will focus on a more transparent supply chain by exchanging knowledge, adhering to certification schemes and hortifootprint calculators. The final goal is to be ready for forthcoming EU legislation, of which the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDD) stand out prominently.

Following a two year-period, the foundation’s individual members can become a member of FSI.
