BEATLES to host its first free webinar and online workshop focusing on ‘behavioural research and insights for transitioning to sustainable food systems’

BEATLES, a EU-funded research and innovation project to change the way agri-food systems currently operate and accelerate the systemic and systematic behavioural shift to climate-smart agriculture and smart farming technologies, will host its first webinar on 23 April 2024, from 10am to 12.15pm (CET).

The event is organised by Q-Plan International and Sustainabile Innovations, partners of the project. It aims to address targeted groups of stakeholders, disseminating the project’s results while also facilitating their exploitation.

Driving forces behind the project is a consortium, led by the Agricultural University of Athens and including 18 partners across 10 European countries: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The webinar will start with Marilena Gemtou, the coordinator from the Agricultural University of Athens, who will introduce the BEATLES project.

Søren Marcus Pedersen, a BEATLES project partner, will delve into ‘Locks-in and levers for transition to sustainable food systems’.

Simone Cerroni will share her findings on ‘Farmers’ preferences for subsidy schemes to promote methane emission reduction in the livestock sector’, drawing from insights of the sister project VISIONARY.

Wrapping up the webinar will be Irina Popescu, a food policy officer at BEUC. She will address consumer attitudes and initiatives like ‘Put Change on the Menu’.

The second part of the event will feature an interactive workshop, bringing together technical experts and stakeholders to collaboratively identify challenges and opportunities in transforming the food system.

Through interactive online tools, the attendees will provide feedback on the presented research results and collectively explore strategies for advancing practices for climate-smart farming.
