Summer Breeze ‘Snow’ scoops up IPM Novelty Award

ANDIJK, Netherlands: The strawberry variety, F1 Summer Breeze Snow from ABZ Seeds from Andijk, the Netherlands, was named the winner of IPM INNOVATION OF THE YEAR in the category “tub plants” at the international plant trade fair IPM in Essen, Germany last week.

According to the jury the award-winning strawberry is a real attention-grabber: it’s both an attractive flowering plant as well as a tasty treat for terrace and balcony. The “Summer Breeze Snow” is ideally suited for the urban garden. The unusually large, semi-double flowers attractively rise above the foliage. This is what makes the decorative value of this strawberry so interesting.

The double snow-white flowers not only give a lot of colour on the balcony of the consumer, but, as a bonus, it also gives delicious strawberries all summer long.

The Summer Breeze Snow, which was introduced in the autumn of 2019, already won 3rd place at the Glazen Tulp (Glass Tulip) ceremony, by flower-auction Royal Flora Holland in Aalsmeer, in the “garden plants” category at the beginning of January.

Summer Breeze Snow makes a good combination with Summer Breeze Rose, the red double-flowered variety that looks a lot like a real red rose.
