Ukranian journalist Maryna Kinakh now has her own Gerbera

KIEV, Ukraine: Flower Expo Ukraine, Ukraine’s premier horticultural trade show, opened its doors on Tuesday April 16, 2019. To mark the occasion journalist and ‘ambassador’ to the country’s horticultural industry, Ms. Maryna Kinakh named her own ‘Lady Mara’ Gerbera.

Today it’s the last day of the trade show, which in 2018 brought together 98 exhibitors from 9 countries showing their latest products and services to 8.940 visitors.

Now in its 13th year, the 3-day event is held at Kiev’s International Exhibition Centre (IEC) and is backed by the Flower Council of Ukraine, the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and The Netherlands Embassy in Kiev.

Creating some extra buzz was the name giving ceremony of the new Gerbera, a creation of Dutch-based breeding company Florist Holland. Lady Mara, they say, makes the perfect Gerbera for Ukraine as it features a vibrant bright pink colour and a contrasting green centre.

Those keen to spot Florist Holland’s latest breeding breakthrough are welcome the company’ stand (E2) at Flower Expo Ukraine where Lady Mara is displayed in her full glory.
