The 2024 Spring Edition of Plantarium|Groen-Direkt reaches capacity

Running from today (the 6th of February) until Wednesday the 7th, this year’s spring edition of Plantarium|Groen-Direkt at Groen-Direkt in Hazerswoude-Dorp will offer green professionals from home and abroad the opportunity to browse an extensive range of trees, shrubs, garden plants and annuals. Show organiser Green Retail Events says the show floor is fully booked.

Groen-Direkt halls will be abuzz with activity, gathering expert plant growers and specialist nurseries from home and abroad to sell a complete, directly available range of nursery stock products and garden plants. So far, 180 exhibitors have booked a stand.

The spring edition of Plantarium|Groen-Direkt is arguably one of Europe’s largest wholesale plant/nursery stock sales events featuring 5,000 sample batches of plants on raised beds and a ‘Danish trolley fair’. The latter allows Groen-Direkt’s 1,000 active European buyers to buy plants in smaller quantities, that is, per Danish trolley layer.

New and exciting features to look forward to in this year’s event include a superb range of Mediterranean plants and palms, from the classics to the more exotic species, plus the Green Future Hub, where attendees can find resources to peat use, reduced-peat potting mixes and peat alternatives and the research and guidance to help growers reduce the use of peat.

Eight exhibiting plant growers will share their experience with moving away from peat and showcase a range of peat-reduced and peat-free products. Industry bodies Anthos, LTO and Delphy will update the audience on regulations to protect peatlands while highlighting the barriers and opportunities for eliminating peat in commercial plant growing.

Recognising horticulture excellence and highlighting innovative and exceptional plant varieties is the Visitor Vote Award with twelve nominated plants this spring.

Camellia’ Beauty Blush’, Camellia’ Winter Perfume Pink’ and Camellia’ Winter Perfume Pearl’, Cordyline australis’ Lime Passion’, Eucalyptus websteriana ‘Botanic Hearts’, Fagus sylvatica ‘Icefire’, Fargesia’ Moontears’® Boobux, Hydrangea serrata Euphoria® ‘Pink’, Prostanthera’ Rosette’®, The Living Garden Flowermix, Thuja plicata Aldrich Mountain, Viburnum Magical Spring Glory and Winter Angel Helleborus Frostkiss Magico will battle it out to win the highest honour.

Visitors will be invited to vote for what they consider the best novelty plant via a balloting system with green balls. The winner of the Visitor Vote Award will be announced at 3 pm. on Wednesday, the 7th of February.
