Signify has started producing Philips GreenPower LEDs at their plant in Camargo, Mexico that so far were only produced in Europe. This new production line significantly reduces delivery times for customers in the US and Canada.
Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, will significantly reduce delivery times for Philips GreenPower LED customers in North America as it adds a horti LED production line at its existing luminaire factory in Camargo, Mexico for the LEDs that so far were only manufactured in Sucha Beskidzka, Poland. The move helps the company to optimally benefit from a fast-growing demand for horticultural LEDs in North America.
“We are very excited that we can enhance our support to customers in North America by reducing their delivery times – it’s a necessity,” said Udo van Slooten, Business Leader Horticulture at Signify. “We see very strong demand for horticultural LEDs as customers increasingly understand the benefits: improved predictability, higher quality product and higher yields. Particularly the strong increase in number of customers in the fruit, vegetables, floriculture and cannabis segments in the last two years, meant that we needed to make steps to deliver faster to this important market.”
Currently, products are manufactured in Europe and then transported to North America by boat. The products that are manufactured in Mexico will directly be transported to customers in North America, resulting in fewer delays and making shipments more reliable. We will continue to produce Philips GreenPower LEDs in Europe to service customers in other parts of the world.
The horticulture market is projected to grow by more than 20% per year until 2025, making it one of Signify’s key growth areas. Signify distinguishes itself through a customer-centric approach in which a key account manager, plant specialist and application engineer work together with a customer to offer the grower a business case, financial services, plant growth expertise, installation expertise, LED systems and community networking.
The Philips GreenPower LED range includes toplighting, interlighting, flowering lamps and production modules.
The overall horticulture lighting market is estimated to grow from USD 2.43 billion in 2018 to USD 6.21 billion by 2023 at a CAGR of 20.61 from 2018 to 2023
