Ronald Moerings Foundation donates €129,300 to support cancer research

The Ronald Moerings Foundation (RMF) has donated €129,300 to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL) Foundation to support cancer research. The generous donation of a group of 40 green professionals will go a long way towards funding essential research into all types of cancer.

On November a cross section of 40 horticultural entrepreneurs including tree growers, growing media suppliers, orchid growers, horticultural suppliers and engineering companies made their annual visit to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital in Amsterdam to meet with cancer specialists.

Fiona Moerings of the RMF presented Henri van Luenen, director hospital business operations a cheque in the amount of €129,300 to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Foundation, which will use the donation towards much needed cancer research.

Alongside the RMF-donation, Pieter Heemskerk of charity bike ride alltheway EFI (€43.500), Karin van der Eijk of  tropical plant nursery VDE Plant/Intenz and cycle store Martens Tweewielers presented van cheques in the amount of €43,500, €7.500 and € 5.800  respectively.

Subsequently, the group took a look behind the scenes of the hospital’s research centre where a team of 800 researchers tirelessly work to beat cancer.

Ronald Moerings Foundation was nominated in memory of Ronald Moerings a grower of aquatic plants from Boskoop who together with a colleague lost his life in a tragic car accident in November 2015.
