Marco van der Sar appointed as Chairman of the Dutch environmental certification scheme MPS

The Dutch environmental certification scheme MPS is pleased to announce that Marco van der Sar will succeed Gijs Kok as Chairman. He will start the role on 1 April.

Marco van der Sar has a proven track record in leading positions within the Dutch ornamental horticulture industry. After graduating in Business Administration in Rotterdam, Van der Sar spent ten years in various roles at Royal FloraHolland, followed by four years at Dümmen Orange. Since 2020, he has run his own business specialising in interim management. He is also Chairman of the Flower Council Holland.

Commenting on his new challenge Van der Sar says, “After discussions with the board and growers, I am delighted to be taking on this role as chairman of the MPS board. Working with the sector, MPS has accomplished a huge amount in the field of certification, as well as raising awareness and promoting knowledge of sustainability. Accountability and sustainability are set to play an even more important role throughout the entire supply chain over the next few years. Together with the board and the team at MPS, I will be making every effort to boost the value of MPS to businesses.”

Marco van der Sar is taking over from Gijs Kok, chairman of the board for the past six years. During his time at MPS, Kok used his experience from his years at Royal FloraHolland to make a significant contribution to the board and to improve the sustainability of the horticulture industry.
