Charles Snijders joins Takii Europe team

DE KWAKEL, Netherlands: Takii Europe has expanded its team with the addition of Charles Snijders as Head R&D. Charles brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the plant breeding industry and will be central to strengthening the company’s market presence.  

Commenting on Snijders’ appointment Ton Kuipers, Managing Director at Takii Europe says, “We are delighted to welcome Charles Snijders to Takii Europe. As Head of R&D at Takii Europe based in De Kwakel, The Netherlands, Charles Snijders will play an important part in driving Takii’s global R&D strategy to accelerate innovation. In his role, Charles will oversee and manage all Vegetable, Flower and Home Gardening R&D activities at Takii Europe in the Netherlands, as well as all of the other Takii R&D entities across Europe. He will work closely with Takii’s leading R&D department in Kōsei, Japan, the heart of Takii’s R&D activities.

In his previous job as Breeding Director at Asur Plant Breeding, Charles was responsible for steering the development of hybrid and conventional wheat and barley varieties. Positions that he held before that include Senior Plant Breeder and R&D manager Europe at Zelder and Ball Horticultural Company respectively. Charles started his career as Research Scientist at Wageningen University & Research, from which he holds a PhD degree in plant breeding and MSc degree in tropical agriculture, entomology and quantitative genetics.
