  • Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar | Countdown To Opening

All plans are coming together in time for the opening of Expo 2023 Doha Qatar

It is less than five months until the World Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha Qatar opens.

The following provides an overview of some of the activities that the Expos organisers are working hard upon towards its success.

Steady progress with developments over 80% complete

“Under the motto “Green Desert, Better Environment,” Expo 2023 Doha will be a significant moment for Qatar to showcase its world-class entertainment and explore an essential aspect of its development strategy – finding solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
We’re delighted to share that preparations for the great event are underway. The infrastructure of the international zone is now close to completion, and the main Expo’s legacy building – the Expo House – is almost ready and set to open shortly. Meanwhile, construction of other flagship pavilions continues as we speak.”

A global gathering of nations and some of the world’s leading experts

More than three million visitors worldwide are expected to attend the event from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024. Horticulture, innovation, and sustainability enthusiasts and experts, including government officials, non-governmental organisations, commercial affiliates, partners and the general public, are all expected to attend. Over 60 countries and organisations have confirmed their participation in Expo 2023 Doha, including Türkiye, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Oman, India and the Netherlands.

Global partnerships are a key component of our strategy

Partnerships with leading organisations in line with Expo 2023 Doha’s four sub-themes of modern agriculture, technology and innovation, environmental awareness, and sustainability are all instrumental to the Expo’s success. We have forged notable ones, including Microsoft, Qatar Airways, Hamad International Airport, The Qatar Basketball Federation, and Hassad Foods.

Beyond the critical focus on sustainability, Expo 2023 Doha will also be a pivotal moment for Qatar, sparking a nationwide mobilisation of government stakeholders, businesses, citizens, and residents. We anticipate that this global event will boost tourism in 2023 and early 2024, particularly attracting tourists from the Gulf region and other continents while providing a place for citizens and residents to engage with local businesses and enjoy a rich entertainment experience.

    Looking ahead with great anticipation

Expo 2023 Doha has also been promoting itself at various key events to raise further awareness. These include the FIFA Fan Festival, Qatar Sports Day, Qatar International Food Festival, and its participation in Family Day in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF). A tree-planting initiative was specifically developed in collaboration with Expo 2023 Doha to promote our view of sustainable living in harmony with family values.

‘We look forward to showcasing our hosting capabilities to the world once again. We are proud to bring together so many global actors focusing on the critical issue of climate change.’
