Many Dutch flower and plant exporters will be bankrupt soon without financial aid package

AALSMEER, Netherlands: The Dutch Association of Wholesalers in Floricultural Products (VGB) and market analyst Floridate took to YouTube to  sound the alarm over COVID-19.

Dutch flower and plant exporters fear the future as the outbreak of the coronavirus dampens demand at home and abroad. Assuming that the coronavirus crisis will continue until mid June and that the exporters will book 65% less in export revenues in the peak months April and May, the export value will show a total loss of 1.3 billion euros by the end of June.

The export picture looks extremely bleak, considering that Dutch flower and plant exports surpassed the €3.5 billion mark in the first six months of the record-breaking year 2019.
