AIPH Secretary General, Mr Tim Briercliffe, received a distinguished award from the UK’s Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
He was granted the Veitch Memorial Medal for having made ‘an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the science and practice of horticulture’. The award was presented to him by RHS President Keith Weed CBE at the RHS People Awards in London on 26 March.
In expressing his gratitude, Mr Briercliffe acknowledged the support of the AIPH team and said, “I am truly honoured, and I cannot do what I do without their support.”
The RHS People Awards celebrate exceptional contributions to horticulture. The RHS Awards Committee evaluates nominations and recommends the strongest ones to the RHS Horticulture Board and RHS Council for a final decision.
This prestigious accolade, named after businessman, famed horticulturist, and former RHS Council Member James Veitch Jr. (1815-1869), is awarded annually to persons of any nationality who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry. Mr Briercliffe will hold the Veitch Memorial Medal for life.
