Final Call: I International Symposium on Ornamentals in Africa (September 2013, Kenya)

We would like to inform you that the abstract submission and registration for the I International Symposium on Ornamentals in Africa – ‘Ornamentals for people, planet and profit’ is still open. The symposium will be held from 9th to 13th September 2013 in Naivasha, Kenya. Several interesting abstracts for the symposium sessions have already been received by the scientific committee. 

To make use of the reduced Early Bird fee please register until 1st August 2013. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15th June 2013.

The symposium will cover all areas of research and practical aspects of cultivation, including most recent developments in all fields of ornamental crops. The important sub-themes are:

  1. Ornamentals and human well being
  2. Production technologies and environment
  3. Crop improvement
  4. Economics and trade, marketing, standards
  5. Regulations, support services, farming, insurance, etc.
  6. Postharvest physiology and technology.

The symposium will be held in Naivasha city located within the Great Rift Valley and a short driving distance from Nairobi.

Great Rift Valley is one of the main horticultural production areas of Kenya.

It is located close to many scenic sites such as the Hell’s Gate and Olkaria Geothermal station.

The Lake Naivasha area is very well known for the breath taking views where thousands flamingoes and huge population of hippos are abundant.
