At Euroflora 2025, visitors from around the world were invited to experience a unique glimpse of Thailand’s ecological identity, rooted in wetlands, rich in biodiversity, and anchored in community tradition. The Expo 2026 Udon Thani organising committee utilised the Genoa stage to promote their upcoming AIPH-approved Expo while celebrating Thai horticulture through hands-on cultural activities and immersive storytelling at the Italian International Horticultural Show.
Presented under the Expo’s theme “Diversity of Life: Connecting People, Water, and Plants for Sustainable Living,” the booth featured interactive demonstrations of Thai heritage, such as Isan-style “Tung” flag crafting, herbal inhaler making, and lotus and herbal tea tastings. Visitors also explored a preview of the Udon Thani Expo Master Plan and learned about the region’s commitment to ecological sustainability.
“Euroflora gave us the opportunity to present Thailand’s wetland ecosystem as a model for global horticultural dialogue,” said Chawee Lomlek, Senior Policy and Plan Specialist at the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand. “We are proud to be the first International Horticultural Green Expo in history to be held in a wetland environment.”
The display focused on the ecological value of wetlands—described as nature’s sponge—highlighting their role in flood prevention, carbon absorption, air purification, and biodiversity conservation. Plants were carefully selected to illustrate these functions and to showcase the harmony between human life, water systems, and botanical resilience.

Thailand’s presence in Genoa also served a strategic purpose: to raise international awareness and invite participation in the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, which will run from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027. The Expo aims to deliver not only a spectacular display of horticultural innovation but also a forum for global knowledge exchange, sustainable development, and climate action.
From Genoa’s historic waterfront to the wetlands of Northeast Thailand, the journey progresses. With the conclusion of Euroflora 2025, preparations are underway for Udon Thani to host the world in 2026. Interested organisations and exhibitors are warmly invited to take part in this landmark AIPH-approved Expo by contacting the organising committee at interhort@doa.go.th.
