The Nakhon Ratchasima International Horticultural Expo 2029 (Korat Expo 2029), set to open on 10 November 2029, has officially entered its preparation phase. The first meeting of the Expo Steering Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pichai Chunhavajira, marked this important milestone.

Progress Since Site Inspection and AIPH Spring Meeting
Following the most recent site inspection in November 2024 and discussions at the AIPH Board meeting in Chiang Rai, held as part of the AIPH Spring Meeting in February 2025, Korat Expo 2029 has moved decisively into its next stage of planning. Significant progress has already been achieved as Thailand prepares to welcome the world to this AIPH-approved A1 International Horticultural Expo.

Steering Committee Gathers Key Stakeholders
The inaugural meeting of the Expo Steering Committee brought together leading representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Interior, and the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima. These parties have pledged their full support and responsibility for driving the Expo forward.

Theme and Sub-Themes Confirmed
The Committee reaffirmed the official theme of the Expo: Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future. This will be explored through five interconnected sub-themes: Food of the World, Food for the Future; Sustainable Modern Horticulture and Agricultural Technology and Innovation; Home of the New Generation (Livable Environment, New Generation); Biodiversity; and Nature, Arts and Culture (National and Local Assets).

Key Decisions to Advance Planning
The Steering Committee also confirmed a series of important actions to advance preparations. These include the appointment of an Executive Committee to oversee decision-making, a request for a national emergency budget in the 2025 fiscal year to establish the Master Plan and detailed planning, the initiation of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) recognition process, and the granting of permission to develop the Expo site.

A Global Stage for Horticulture
Korat Expo 2029 will serve as a major international platform to showcase horticultural innovation, sustainable agriculture, and green living. The 678-rai site (approximately 108.48 hectares) location for the Expo Park will be transformed into a global stage celebrating biodiversity, climate resilience, and botanical heritage.

Strong National Commitment
The government of Thailand has reiterated its full support to all parties involved in ensuring the successful delivery of the Korat Expo 2029. With strong collaboration among stakeholders and determined leadership, the Expo promises to be a memorable event for both participants and visitors.
Organisers of Korat Expo 2029 will present more details on their official progress report during the International Horticultural Expo Conference at the 77th AIPH Annual Congress in Ghent, Belgium, this September.
