Exhibitors to this year’s Landscape Istanbul Fair 2024 reflect Türkiye’s strength as a major producer and exporter of quality ornamental plants and trees suited to the challenges presented by our changing climate, writes LIF Expo organiser Batuhan Arda Acar of Athena Fuarcılık A.Ş.
We take a quick look at some of the companies exhibiting their range of ornamental plants and trees at Landscape Istanbul Fair 2024, which will take place from 13-15 November 2024 at the Istanbul Fair Center.
Eko Garden Landscaping: Heat-Loving Plants
One such company is Eko Garden Landscaping, which has a 25-year track record in the landscaping and ornamental plant sector but has more recently focused on ‘heat-loving plants’ in light of the challenging climate conditions. Their wide range of products includes cacti, succulents and heat-resistant plants ideal for drought-tolerant landscaping projects.
Nergis Pe
yaz: Delivering to European standards
Long-established importer and exporter Nergis Peyaz sells approximately 1,000 products, including tree species, fruit varieties, shrubs, bonsai and varieties of herbaceous plants from its 30-hectare site. Their best sellers include Photinia, abelia, loropetalum, euonymus, leylandii, Platanus, tea, Magnolia, Rose, Olea, Cedrus, chambers, and many other plant varieties. With their goal to produce 60% of plants for sale in-house within five years and to deliver European standards, the company already boasts an impressive list of export markets, including Italy, Bahrain, Azerbaijan and Romania.
Aydo Tarim: Mediterranean species
Exhibiting company Aydo Tarım has transitioned its agricultural expertise into a thriving landscape tree nursery focused exclusively on Mediterranean species. Housed within 26,000 m² of special greenhouses and an additional 20,000 m² of open ground, the company’s commitment to quality is evident in its streamlined production, which focuses on just seven tree varieties: Ficus australis, Ficus nitida, Jacaranda mimosifolia, Bitter Orange, Bougainvillea, and Kumquat. Already selling to markets such as Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Aydo Tarım’s production capacity gives it the ability to fulfil large-scale orders, making it an ideal partner for those seeking exceptional Mediterranean landscape trees.
Bayındır Armağan: high-quality production
Landscape Istanbul Fair 2024 will also welcome producer Bayındır Armağan, who has been a leader in the production of outdoor ornamental plants since 1966. Their high-quality production, which is respected for its ability to adapt to different climate conditions, has a strong export focus, with countries such as Italy, Iraq, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan among their major markets.
Karatepe Nursery and Ornamental Plants: service quality
Through the utilisation of modern technology, Karatepe Nursery and Ornamental Plants have an annual production of 3.5 million seedlings and 100,000 potted plants comprising 50 types and 150 varieties of shrubs. Much of its export success is built on sales of Euonymus spp., Photinia spp., Phormium spp., Camellia spp., Viburnum spp., Aucuba spp., and Rhycospermum spp. selling to countries such as Italy, Uzbekistan, Georgia, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Jordan, and Romania. Their relentless drive to maintain service quality will be evident on their stand at Landscape Istanbul Fair 2024.
Aratlı Botanic: rapid growth
Another exhibitor, Aratlı Botanic, produces approximately 400,000 coniferous plants annually on an area of 250,000 square meters. Since its establishment, its rapid growth has been based on delivering on its motto of ‘Quality products, quality service’, and whilst it serves every region within Turkiye, it has also become a renowned exporter.
Yeşilvadi Production Nursery: latest technology
Using the latest irrigation and fertilisation technology, Yeşilvadi Production Nursery successfully cultivates main species, sub-species and rare species of numerous plant varieties found in Turkiye and then exports them to international customers in Italy, the Netherlands, Georgia, Azerbaijan, etc. These various plant groups include outdoor shrubs, ball-shaped shrubs, deciduous and evergreen trees and perennial species. By maintaining its focus on quality and reliability, Yeşilvadi Production Nursery is confident it will become a leading supplier in the international arena.
Talya Nursery: local materials
Another exhibitor, Talya Nursery, is committed to using the latest technologies and local materials on its 65,000 square metre plot and exports to the Middle East, Turkic Republics and other markets.
