One month remains to enter the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026

Is your city leading the way in implementing urban greening solutions? Do you want expert feedback that strengthens your impact and global recognition that raises your city’s profile?

With just one month left, the countdown is on for cities worldwide to submit entries for the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026 before the 19th October deadline.

This is more than an awards programme – it’s a chance to put your city on the map as a global leader in sustainability. Initiated by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) and supported by its network of Green City Partners, the Awards champion ambitious nature-orientated approaches to city design and operation that are shaping the future of urban life.

Why enter?

Cities that take part don’t just win trophies – they gain recognition, influence and impact. From raised profiles and stronger cases for funding to international connections and community pride, the benefits are far-reaching.

“Participating in the AIPH World Green Cities Award represents a strategic opportunity to give international visibility to Niterói’s environmental initiatives, as well as promoting the exchange of knowledge and strengthening global partnerships focused on urban sustainability. This participation enhances external recognition and drives the replication of good practices on a local and international scale.”
– Dionê Marinho Castro, Undersecretary for Resilience and Coordinator of Sustainable PRO, City of Niterói, Brazil (2024 Finalist in the ‘Living Green for Social Cohesion and Inclusive Communities’ category)

“Participating in the AIPH World Green City Awards has been really valuable for the City of Melbourne and it has helped raise the profile of our Green Factor tool and Planning Scheme Amendment C376.”
– Steve McKellar, City of Melbourne, Australia (2024 Finalist in the ‘Living Green for Climate Change’ category)

Partnerships that amplify your impact

With support from partners including the Resilient Infrastructure & Cities Lab (RICL) at the Asian School of the Environment (ASE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, every entrant receives valuable expert feedback. This ensures the Awards offer cities more than a spotlight – they provide practical guidance to refine initiatives, a platform to scale solutions, and a pathway to join a global movement for greener, healthier cities.

How it works

Seven award categories cover everything from climate change and biodiversity to water management, health and wellbeing, social inclusion, urban infrastructure and food systems.

Entries go through a rigorous two-stage judging process. First, a Technical Panel of world-leading experts in Green City principles, problem-solving, plants and Nature-based Solutions reviews the submissions. Then, an international Jury selects the winners – with one city ultimately crowned the Grand Winner of the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026.

Don’t miss out

Entries close on 19th October 2025. Cities large and small are invited to enter their initiatives online and show the world how they are leading with nature.
