The Kenya Flower Council (KFC), a member of AIPH, has appointed Catherine Mukoko as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO). With over 20 years of experience in strategic leadership, policy advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration, Ms Mukoko is poised to lead initiatives that support KFC’s mission of strengthening the sector for growers and cut flower exporters in Kenya.
Ms Mukoko’s decision to join KFC is inspired by its strategic role in advancing the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s floriculture industry. With a passion for governance, stakeholder collaboration, and policy advocacy, she aims to spearhead initiatives that boost operational efficiency. A flower enthusiast at heart, she’s also looking forward to transforming her “brown thumb” into a thriving “green thumb” as she deepens her connection to the sector.
Her extensive career includes senior leadership roles at the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), where she focused on driving organisational growth and sustainability. These experiences align seamlessly with KFC’s efforts to represent and advocate for growers in the cut flower industry, a key contributor to Kenya’s economy and global reputation for excellence.
KFC’s objectives of ensuring Kenya’s floriculture sector remains competitive, environmentally responsible, and attuned to evolving industry trends resonate strongly with AIPH’s mission as champions for the power of plants and its sustainability strategy. This alignment underscores KFC’s commitment to supporting global efforts to promote sustainable horticultural practices and innovation.
Ms Mukoko’s leadership will focus on operational excellence and aligning KFC’s strategies to serve its growers better. Her academic credentials include an MBA in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) from Africa Nazarene University. She is also a Certified Professional Trainer and Mediator and a specialist in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and anti-corruption compliance.
Through her role, Ms Mukoko will ensure KFC continues to support its members by fostering innovation, advocating for policy frameworks that enhance the sector’s growth, and promoting practices that meet global sustainability standards. Her vision reflects KFC’s long-standing commitment to championing the interests of the cut flower sector and maintaining Kenya’s leadership in floriculture.
