Meaningful Meetings with Key Stakeholders

The delegation held productive discussions with the Expo 2029 Baghdad organisers, as well as high-level officials including Mr. Fadi Elshammeri, Advisor to Prime Minister, and representatives from the Ministry of Urban Planning and the National Investment Commission – all of whom expressed strong support for the project.

Other meetings were held with Mr. Mahir Cohan, Deputy Minister of Planning, Mr. Ali Elshammeri, Director General of Land, and Mr. Salar Amin, Deputy Chairman of the Iraqi National Investment Commission.

On-site Assessment of Expo Potential

The delegation toured a promising site located to the south of Baghdad, nestled in a lush area close to the Tigris River. This verdant setting appears well-suited for developing an Expo park, offering favourable growing conditions for international participants to create horticultural exhibits and gardens.

A Strategic and Supportive Follow-Up

Following the visit, AIPH provided the organisers with a comprehensive report highlighting the opportunity, requirements and tailored recommendations. The Expo organisers are now preparing to present their application proposal during the 77th AIPH Annual Congress, to be held in Ghent, Belgium.
