AIPH appoints new Vice President and Marketing Committee Chair

The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has appointed a new Vice President as well as a Chair of the AIPH Marketing Committee.

Prof. Zhang Qixiang was nominated by the China Flower Association and elected as Vice President of AIPH at the AIPH Spring Meeting held on 18th March 2015 in Paris, France. In this role he joins the AIPH Executive Committee and will work closely with the President, Mr. Vic Krahn, second Vice President, Mr. Bernard Oosterom and Secretary General, Mr. Tim Briercliffe, as the lead the association together.

Mr. Kevin Chung was elected as Chair of the Marketing & Exhibitions Committee during the AIPH General Meeting held on 17 September 2014 in Qingdao, China. This Committee plays the important role of approving and monitoring international horticultural exhibitions.

Prof. Zhang is Vice president of the Beijing Forestry University, Chief of the National Floricultural Projects and Technology Research Center as well as being a Professor of the Landscaping Architecture College at Beijing Forestry University. He also holds several titles including: Vice chairman, Chinese Horticultural Society, Chairman, China Floricultural Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Union, and Member of Executive Committee, International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).Mr. Chung is General Manager of TFDA Chinese Taipei and specialises in the flower auction system, flower exhibitions, and the administration of the flower market. His previous roles include being Vice General Manager at Flora Seeds and Sprouts, China and Manager at Taipei Flower Auction Market.

Both vacancies arose following the decision by Mr Shinya Wada to step down from the roles after many years of valuable service supporting AIPH. Mr Wada will continue in his role as Regional Representative on the AIPH Board.

Commenting on the appointments AIPH President, Vic Krahn, said: “We are delighted by these two worthy appointments. Prof. Zhang has very rich experience in national and international association work. He is also the top expert in China’s ornamental horticultural sector and highly respected for his work in China. Mr Chung is well known to AIPH members and has served as Vice Chairman of the Marketing Committee since 2007.  He fully understands the extensive commitment and work involved. I am very much looking forward to working with this new team”.
