
The seven category winners of the AIPH World Green City Awards 2024 were selected by the jury and announced at a gala dinner on the 25th September as part of the inaugural Future Green City World Congress in Utrecht, Netherlands.
The category winners were:
- Living Green for Biodiversity & Urban Ecosystem Restoration: Urban Green Heart Programme – City of Chengdu, China
- Living Green for Climate Change: Mandera Municipality’s Greening Programme – Mandera Municipality, Kenya
- Living Green for Health and Wellbeing: Green and Healthy Environments Program (PAVS) – City of São Paulo, Brazil
- Living Green for Water: Climate Change Strategy – City of Joondalup, Australia
- Living Green for Social Cohesion & Inclusive Communities: ResiLab BioSocial, Huerto Roma Verde – Mexico City, Mexico
- Living Green for Urban Infrastructure & Liveability: SPIRE – Smart Post-Industrial Regenerative Ecosystem – City of Baia Mare, Romania
- Living Green for Urban Agriculture & Food Systems: Curitiba’s Urban Agriculture – City of Curitiba, Brazil
The City of Joondalup was also awarded the AIPH Youth Award, offered in conjunction with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network.
Of the seven category winners, one entry was selected as Grand Winner of the AIPH World Green City Awards 2024. The jury was asked ‘which entry do you feel may have the biggest transformational impact?’. The Grand Winner Award was presented to the City of Chengdu, China.
