Young and international entrepreneurs arrive in Holland to begin agribusiness tour

WESTLAND, Netherlands: A group of fourteen of the world’s best and brightest flower farmers landed at Amsterdam Schiphol airport to participate in a two-week Pro Manager Floriculture master class. They will visit the Westland horticultural museum after which they will tour Optiflor’s orchid nursery and micro leaves and cress grower Koppert Cress.

Building on the success of last year’s educational tour, Netherlands and Costa Rica-based content marketing specialist and networking event organiser Jungle Talks is once again hosting the Pro Manager Floriculture master class and is looking forward to making the event even bigger and better. The master class will provide the participants two weeks of learning opportunities and a unique behind-the-scenes look at leading horticultural businesses in the Netherlands.

Ed Smit is looking forward to making the most of the coming two weeks, “Almost all participants will fulfil different management/board of director roles in the near future and are highly qualified, working at leading floriculture companies around the world. We are delighted to announce a total of  fourteen entrepreneurs have signed up, representing the next generation of creative talent in the sector.”

Participants come from Brazil (Tobias de Wit from Jan de Wit and Mattheus Yeda from orchid grower Sitio Kolibri), Chile (Juan Goycoolea), Guatemala Denisse Nassar from Holland Orchids), Colombia (Ricardo Samper from Flores Serrezuela),  Kenya (Annemarie de Theije from Florensis Kenya, Harry Kruger from Equinox rose farm and Sushant Patil from rose grower Black Tulip Group), Zambia (Richard Evans from sweetheart rose producer Khal Amazi, Spain (Laura Carrera from Innoflower), Poland (Konrad Pawlak from Vitroflora, Iran (Iman Zaeem from Zaeem Flowers, China (Alyssa Guo from Donewellflower) and Vietnam (Van Quoc Nguya from Dalat Hasfarm).

Smit went on to say that the group represents a broad cross-section of the ornamentals industry, both in terms of geography and crop production. On board are cut flower growers while others produce potted plants and starter plants.

A vital part of the master course, company visits will offer the group ‘onsite insights’ at Ter Laak Orchids, Optiflor, Together2Grow, Pligt Professionals, Ammerlaan TGI, Berg Roses, Zuidplas and Arcadia. Participants will also visit the Aalsmeer Trade Fair, IFTF, the Technical University of Delft and the Westland horticultural museum.
