The Dutch Horticultural Entrepreneur Award Foundation has announced the finalists for the prestigious Dutch Horticultural Entrepreneur Awards which will be presented on 12 March 2025.
Three finalists have been announced as possible winners of this prestigious award. Chrysanthemum grower Kreling from Bruchem, tulip, lily and Muscari bulb farmer Botha from Breezand, and commercial Brassica plant grower Gitzels from Wervershoof will be vying for what is called the Dutch Oscars of the horticultural industry. All three finalists stand out for their passion, vision, drive and excellent entrepreneurship.
Nominated for the 2025 ‘Future Proof Tech Award’ – identifying the most innovative horticultural businesses – are irrigation and drainwater testing facility CE-Line from Emmeloord, robotic transplanter manufacturer ISO Horti Innovators from Gameren, and Valto Biocontrol, a company from De Lier, with biological crop control being its specialty.
Independent and impartial, the awards started in 1986 in response to the rather difficult period following the recession of the 1980s, a gloomy period of low consumer confidence and unemployment in the Netherlands. Back then, the Dutch horticultural industry identified the need to recognise progressive growers who embrace technology, modern and sustainable production practices, market innovation, strong customer service and demonstrate their position as an industry leader.
In 2021, there was no Dutch Horticultural Entrepreneur Awards due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Potted Anthurium grower Stolk Brothers from Bergschenhoek won the trophy this year. This achievement automatically qualified the company for the 2025 AIPH International Grower of the Year Awards (IGOTY) which will be held at the forthcoming IPM Essen show on 28 January 2025.
