The Flower and Plant Show Turkey  reschedules

ISTANBUL, Turkey: Turkey’s leading horticultural trade exhibition The Flower and Plant Show joins the never-ending list of cancelled and postponed events this year. Event organiser Tarsus Turkey announces that its flower, garden and outdoor living trade show will no longer take place in 2020.

Originally set to take place between 12 and 14 November 2020 at Istanbul’s Tüyap convention centre, The Flower and Plant Show has now been rescheduled with 11 to 13 November 2021 being the new dates.

True to tradition next year’s edition will be organised in cooperation with the Ornamental Plant Growers Union (SÜSBİR). Tarsus Turkey General Manager Zekeriya Aytemur said that the decision to postpone was taken with the participation of all sector stakeholders. He adds, “We are continuing to work to make The Flower and Plant Show 2021 the most successful fair of all time.”

The domestic ornamental plants sector, which produces an average of 6 billion lira annually and employs 100,000 people directly and 500,000 people indirectly, will hold its 12th meeting in 2021 in accordance with the joint decision of all stakeholders.

Aytemur comments, “When the 2019 Fair concluded, we immediately began working to organise an even more successful fair in 2020.” He adds that, despite the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, all efforts had been made to successfully open The Flower and Plant Show on the scheduled date.

Aytemur notes that, although promotions across all channels were ongoing, the likelihood of reduced attendance due to travel or personal issues was a concern. He adds that “From mid-September, we sought the opinions of all our exhibitors regarding the show dates. The majority of our exhibitors stated that the current conditions could detract from the success of the fair and, therefore, postponing the event to 2021 would benefit the industry. We listened to the input of the sector’s stakeholders, especially our exhibitors and visitors, and have postponed accordingly. We are confident that the 2021 Fair will prove to be successful and productive for all exhibitors.”

As the largest international fair in the region’s ornamental plants and landscaping sector, The Flower and Plant Show 2021 will feature all kinds of new technology, materials and equipment used during production and landscape applications, as well as a wide range of plants. While the Turkic Republics and North African countries are determined as new target markets, the Fair also offers domestic producers an opportunity to expand their export share in European markets.
