The six member municipalities of collaboration network Greenport Aalsmeer have launched a new app built to facilitate smooth transitions for immigrant workers relocating to the the region.
Greenport Aalsmeer is a triple-helix knowledge-sharing platform, a trilateral network of organisational links between the university, the government, municipalities and industry.
The multi language app – available in 17 languages – aims to support to support migrant workers by providing content on housing, housing rights healthcare, equal pay, language courses, recreation, events, road traffic regulations and local laws.
Through the app, international employees can access information relevant to them 24/7 in their own language. The app can be easily downloaded via a QR code or via the following web link: https://myinfoapp.nl/gpa
Commenting on the new app Ronald van den Breevaart, director of Greenport Aalsmeer, says, “There is already much information available for international employees, but it is scattered, not up to date or incorrect. The new Greenport Aalsmeer app, however, gathers all relevant information in one place and keeps it up-to-date. We want international employees to find their way in our society with ease.”
The cooperating municipalities, Aalsmeer, Amstelveen, Uithoorn, Haarlemmermeer, Nieuwkoop and Kaag and Braassem, spoke to a panel of international employees before developing the app.
The app will be shared with international staff through civic affairs, enforcement, welfare organisations, social media, housing locations, sports associations and churches. In promoting the app the the municipalities collaborate with employers, housing corporations and industry bodies.
