This year’s Selecta one Magic Stars tours in Holland and Denmark were held on Tuesday 13th November 2018. The events, based on the theme of Poinsettia, were well attended once again.
In Holland, over 100 interested people joined the tour. The group included not only Dutch growers, but also growers from Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Russia, Japan and South Korea. The first stop was the Kwekerij Stals nursery in Ell, which won the 2018 award of best business in the council of Leudal (prijs beste ondernemer 2018 van de gemeente Leudal). The company grows Poinsettia in 13 cm pots, mostly for the UK-market. A welcome speech by Maurice Stals was followed by an explanation of biological growing from Koppert and a talk from Intergeen on the British market and the possible consequences of Brexit. Visitors also had the opportunity to see the greenhouses and were given a guided tour by Maurice Stals.
The tour continued at the Kwekerij van Vegchel nursery in Horst. Visitors could experience how the company produces the Selecta one Poinsettia series Christmas Feelings® in 10.5 cm pots and Nico van Vegchel answered questions.
At the last stop, the Handelskwekerij Gevers Planten nursery gave visitors an insight into their automation. The companies Iso Group, TTA and Martin Stolze explained how they implemented their knowledge of automation into the greenhouse of Handelskwekerij Gevers Planten. Alex Gevers gave a talk focusing on Selecta one’s Poinsettia varieties: The well-known series Christmas Feelings® and Christmas Beauty shone along with new varieties like Christmas Break.
The Selecta one Magic Stars event in Denmark took place at FloriPartner. Besides an extensive show of the Selecta Poinsettia assortment, customers were provided with technical information. Visitors learned all there is to know about the Selecta One Poinsettia series and also had the opportunity to have conversations with the Selecta One team and FloriPartner employees.
With the Magic Stars events, Selecta one once again provided impressive insights into Poinsettia production, growing methods and varieties and, at the same time, created a platform for exchanging experiences and bringing growers together.
