Selecta One Showcases Innovation and Impact at FlowerTrials 2025

Selecta One reported a successful showing at FlowerTrials 2025, with a noticeable increase in visitors, a vibrant atmosphere, and strong engagement from growers, retailers, and industry partners. Visitors praised the experience as “a perfect mix between inspiration and product show,” applauding both the plant quality and engaging presentation.

From immersive ‘photo points’ to creative displays in varied pot sizes and CC containers, Selecta One made sure their innovations were seen—and shared. Visitors posed in the stylish setup for the double-flowering Osteospermum 3D Steel Blue, relaxed in hanging chairs surrounded by SKYfamily Petunias, and stood amid a colourful sea of Hydrangeas.

RCS 2.0: Exploring Substrate-Free Rooting

FlowerTrials® 2025 marked the commercial debut of RCS 2.0, Selecta One’s substrate-free rooting system. First presented at IPM earlier this year, the approach uses biodegradable paper bags in place of traditional growing media. Designed to support more resource-efficient and environmentally conscious production, the system attracted interest from both customers and trade visitors. Feedback at the event highlighted the relevance of substrate-free options and their potential role in future young plant production.

Dianthus Diversity Takes Centre Stage

Dianthus remained a highlight, with standout brand presentations of Oscar®, I❤U, EarlyLove®, Purple Wedding®, Peach Party®, and Aura®. The Flash series impressed with two vibrant new additions, while perennial Whetman Pinks brought a romantic vintage flair to the show.

Selecta One showcased It-Girl, a new variety from the Whetman range, in its own dedicated presentation area at FlowerTrials 2025. Entered for this year’s FleuroStar Award, the variety features bright pink flowers and was introduced with the tagline: “Look at me – I am the one!” The accompanying marketing concept drew attention from visitors and, according to the company, has already generated demand.

Selecta’s popular mini carnation PINK KISSES® also featured prominently, accompanied by a refreshed marketing message: “pink your friendship.” Framing the plant as a gesture of friendship, the campaign added emotional appeal to its established visual charm. The LUCKY LIPS® series completed the carnation showcase, combining striking varieties with a modern marketing approach tailored to younger consumers.

Additions to the range and other highlights

The Spice Pearls® series of early and compact pot petunias made a strong debut at FlowerTrials® 2025. Combining established Bonnie and Famous varieties with new additions, the series is noted for its uniform growth, long shelf life, and compact habit that’s easy to manage. As the varieties are not sensitive to day length, they can be produced earlier in the season, offering greater flexibility and availability for retail programmes.

A highlight for southern European markets was the Mandevilla Divina® series, presented in Compact, Climbing, and Uni categories. The series is designed to support a variety of pot sizes and end-product forms.

Mixed pots from the Trixi® and Mixbaskets collections added a strong visual element to the display, with vibrant colour combinations designed for retail impact.

Selecta One also presented a selection of Pot Chrysanthemums promoted for year-round production.

Additionally, the recently introduced ‘Sunny Cities’ Hibiscus range was in focus. With Selecta One now holding the marketing rights from Piante Keicher, Selecta One is now part of the ‘Hibiscus Working Group’.
