This August, PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt is poised to host its most dynamic showcase yet, with more than 75 plant novelties expected to be introduced across its two-day fair. With 25 submissions already confirmed—well ahead of last year’s pace—the stage is set for a standout edition of this international nursery plant event, officially endorsed by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).
Organisers say the early surge reflects a growing enthusiasm among breeders and suppliers, as well as a more proactive push to submit entries in time for peak presentation. “We’re also seeing a wave of new companies coming forward with innovations, which adds to the sense of momentum,” they note.

Three Green Retail Awards will be presented during the event: Best Novelty, Best Market Innovation, and Visitor’s Favourite. Each prize celebrates a different facet of product innovation—from breakthrough breeding to retail-ready concepts.
The majority of early entries fall under the Best Novelty category, which honours newly bred cultivars with clear added value. Judged by the professional jury of the KVBC, top-performing plants may receive bronze, silver, or gold medals, with one overall winner named Best Novelty of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt August 2025.

In the Best Market Innovation category, Diderk Heinje Baumschulen is the first to submit with Magnolia figo’ # Hedgetag’—a new concept for a flowering, evergreen hedge. The award recognises retail-ready branding and product concepts, with the winner guaranteed shelf space at a major European retailer.
Meanwhile, Hebe Varia® Wild Blue by Addenda Growers Association is the first nomination for Visitor’s Favourite, a category open to novelties already available in commercial quantities. All entries will be displayed throughout the fair, with the winner chosen by public vote and announced on 28 August.
New submissions are published almost daily at plantariumgroendirekt.nl, offering buyers and industry professionals an up-to-date look at what’s coming. The deadline for novelty entries is 6 August, open to both exhibitors and non-exhibitors.
