NAALDWIJK, Netherlands: Holland’s Nationale Zomerbloemententoonstelling (National Summer Flower Show) returns September 12-19 promising a jam-packed schedule of events. This year’s theme is Late Summer.
Now in its 34th year the Nationale Zomerbloemententoonstelling is sure to attract huge crowds to the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Naaldwijk. The show will celebrate all things Late Summer – the softened light, the veiling haze, ripening fruit and the very first autumn colours – whilst visitors can immerse themselves in a world of beauty filled with art, music and, of course, a sea of summer flowers. Venue: the Old Church in Naaldwijk.
The four-day event, under the guidance of floral designer Heleen Valstar includes a quality competition with the country’s summer flower growers competing for coveted awards.
The stars of de Zomerbloemententoonstelling 2019 will be impressive summer flowers such as Lisianthus, Bouvardia, Delphinium, Helianthus and Hydrangea. The event coincides with the Netherlands Heritage Open Days, celebrating history and culture. It’s a chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are free to explore.
