The Italian floriculture and nursery industry continues to expand, reaching an all-time production record of €3.25 billion in 2024, a 3.5% increase year-over-year and a 31% rise over the past decade (source: Istat).
Exports remain the sector’s driving force, climbing to €1.62 billion (+6.3% in value, +9.5% in volume). With 70% of its production headed for international markets, mainly within the EU, Italy now ranks third among the world’s largest exporters of flowers and plants by value.
Tuscany led national production with more than €1 billion, followed by Liguria (€462 million) and Sicily (€313 million). Every Italian region reported growth, with Veneto posting the strongest increase (+5%).
Valeria Randazzo, Exhibition Manager of Myplant & Garden, said: “Climate fluctuations, high energy costs, rising imports, and new plant diseases are the main issues facing the sector. Despite this, Italy continues to stand out for the quality of its offer, product innovation, process innovation, and ability to tackle environmental and market challenges.”
These figures set the stage for the 10th edition of Myplant & Garden, Italy’s leading trade fair for the green industry, which takes place at Fiera Milano-Rho from 18–20 February 2026. The show will once again gather growers, nursery specialists, landscapers and international buyers, reinforcing its role as a key meeting point for the global horticulture trade.
