HEIDENHEIM, Germany: Potting machine manufacturer Mayer Planting Systems, takes its role as the grower’s trusted partner at heart, especially in the most challenging times.
For more than 50 years, Mayer Planting Systems has been supporting commercial horticulture worldwide with automation solutions ranging from substrate preparation to pot filling and handling. From individual machines to large automation lines, Mayer the grower’s reliable partner.
Georg Mayer, the father of the current owner of the Mayer Group Klaus Mayer, recognised in the 1960s that the conventional pot filling and planting method could not keep up with the increased demand.
Together with the two master gardeners Alfred and Herbert Haufe, he developed the vision of making the production process of horticultural businesses as simple and efficient as possible. In 1967, the time had come. Georg Mayer developed a machine that would change the commercial horticulture industry forever. Equipped with an automatic drill motor, the ‘Model 68’ went down in history as the first automatic potting machine in the world and has inseparably linked the name Mayer with the invention of the potting machine.
Right from the beginning, the idea of innovation was firmly anchored in the company. Which is why it didn’t take long before the two successor models (models 69 & 71) delighted the market with an innovative substrate conveyor system. Even today, Mayer continues to play a pioneering role when it comes to innovations in the field of automated pot plant production. With the launch of the award-winning Potjet 2 pot destacker, Mayer has succeeded in taking a further step towards supporting commercial horticulture with an innovative, customer-oriented solution and facilitating the laborious and time-consuming process of adjusting the pot magazine. Over 1,000 different pots (round & square) can be effortlessly stored and retrieved via a touchscreen. The destacker is then adjusted automatically.
For large pots as well, Mayer offers the TM 2020F and TM 2040, two innovative machines specially developed to meet the needs of tree nurseries and equipped with the very latest technology.
For Mayer, the quality of the machines and customer satisfaction is top priority. For this reason, great importance has always been attached to a high degree of vertical integration. From the design and development of the machines, through the procurement of raw materials, laser cutting, and bending, right up to painting and assembly of the machines, Mayer is a one-stop-shop. This makes it possible to meet the highest quality standards, and also to meet individual requirements. This quality standard is reflected in the fact that machines are still in use today that left production halls 40 years ago.
Machines from Mayer have a long service life due to their solid construction and design. However, over time parts of the machine can wear out. Since the first wave of internationalisation in the 1970s, the dealer, branch, and service network has been continuously expanded. Today, this means that Mayer can offer a worldwide and almost comprehensive service network. This means that service or spare parts enquiries can be responded to quickly, guaranteeing customers production reliability.
