AALSMEER, Netherlands: Horticultural consultant Marcel Groen has died aged 51 following a short illness, Ronald van den Breevaart from horticultural consultancy company GTC+ has said.
Groen, worked alongside Van den Breevaart, Bart Jan Bouwman, Moniek van de Put, Rezja Blaas, Joram Wijnaendsts, Merthus Bezemer and Vincenzo Fracassi at GTC+ and was involved in a wide range of projects in the field of sustainability, digitalisation, Greenport Aalsmeer and floristry. He was one of the co-organisers of the World of Flowers event at the IFTF trade show. Groen, who lived and worked in Zimbabwe and worked at Royal FloraHolland before joining GTC+, died on January 10th.
In a joint statement Greenport Aalsmeer and GTC+ pay tribute to Groen saying that he was talented, friendly and a wonderful colleague. “Our thoughts are with Marcel’s wife and children. We hope they will find comfort in the knowledge that he will be missed terribly.”
