Maan Horti Automation develops Growcoon Dispenser Advanced Series

Maan Horti Automation is raising the bar in a sector where efficiency, precision, and sustainability increasingly dictate success. The company, established earlier this year to drive innovation in horticultural automation, is preparing to unveil a new addition to its Growcoon dispensing technology: the Growcoon Dispenser Advanced Series.

Already a trusted name in propagation, the Growcoon plug has seen rising demand among growers aiming to reduce failure rates, enhance crop uniformity, and improve cultivation outcomes. However, the creators behind Growcoon understand that high-performing plugs alone are not enough. Seamless integration into planting processes and efficient handling are equally vital for success.

“Automation has always been a core part of the concept we want to offer with Growcoon,” explains Edwin Kruiper, director of Maan Horti Automation. Working alongside partners Maan Biobased Products and Klasmann-Deilmann, the company has long provided solutions that range from manual to fully automatic Growcoon dispensers. Yet rising ambitions in the market, new developments, and an expanded Growcoon product range have created demand for even more sophisticated automation.

“There is a growing group of nurseries aiming for the utmost: maximum capacity, high performance, optimal control, and greater ease of operation. They have the results to show for it,” Kruiper says. Maan Horti Automation is preparing to launch its ‘top-line Growcoon Dispenser Advanced Series to meet these new standards.

Designed for growers with ambition, the Advanced Series stands out with a ‘pick & place’ mechanism that positions the Growcoon in trays with exceptional control, replacing the drop mechanism used in baseline models. This technology improves accuracy and allows greater compatibility with a wide range of Growcoon and tray combinations. Depending on the tray type and configuration, the fully automatic dispenser can handle more than 55,000 Growcoons per hour – setting a new benchmark among high-performance tray-filling systems.

“Automation is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” says Raymond van Ispelen of Klasmann-Deilmann. “With the Advanced Series, we aim to deliver exactly what the modern grower demands: precision, speed, and sustainability.”

Although the Advanced Series is not yet commercially available, momentum is building. A prototype is already being tested at a grower’s site, and according to Kruiper, “we are progressing.”

Alongside performance, the team is paying close attention to aesthetics, developing a sleek design that reflects the high-tech nature of the machine. The final look, however, remains under wraps for now.

Through its new division, Maan Horti Automation, and in collaboration with Klasmann-Deilmann, Maan is intensifying its focus on supporting the future of horticulture with innovative biodegradable products and high-quality technology.
