Jungle Talks will organise a trade mission to Colombia and Ecuador from 16 to 21 September. Colombia is the world’s second largest flower producer and Ecuador is the most well-known supplier of top quality roses in the international market. Two countries each with their own story and where you will find some of the best flower producers in the world.
Since the beginning of the millennium, the Colombian economy has developed strongly. However, one (negative) result has been the increase of costs and the fact that labour is getting scarce. The political and social circumstances in the country have improved significantly, resulting in a positive investment climate and opportunities not only for various suppliers, but also for investors and producers.
In Ecuador, the floricultural sector is smaller than in neighbouring Colombia and organized in a different way. Companies are usually set up with foreign capital and, in contrary to Colombia, in Ecuador the production of roses is still very dominant. In Ecuador no less than two international trade fairs are taking place in September, the Expoflor and Agriflor.
Jungle Talks will organise a trade mission to both Colombia and Ecuador, from 16 to 21 September. In Colombia the programme concentrates on company visits near the capital of Bogota and the focus lies on production and post-harvest processing. In Ecuador company visits are planned around Quito and participants will visit both international trade fairs.

Dutch companies interested in participating can, under certain conditions, obtain a so-called ‘mission voucher’ from RVO NL in The Hague. If your company is eligible, the costs of participation will be reduced with 50% from 1.900 Euro (excl. VAT) to 950 Euro. The various parts of the draft programme (including mentioned lunches and dinners) are included in this amount. Costs of international flight tickets and accommodation are to be paid by the participants themselves and will cost an estimate 1.800 Euro.
