High-level trade delegation from China’s Nanjing visit World Horti Centre in the Netherlands

The Director General of Nanjing’s National Agtech Innovation Centre (NNAIC) accompanied by the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee last week visited the World Horti Centre in Westland, Netherlands to learn more about Dutch greenhouse production, meet greenhouse building and horticultural engineering companies, and hear about cutting-edge greenhouse technology. Subsequently, NNAIC and Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) signed an agreement that will see both parties jointly developing Nanjing’s agtech innovation hub for the exchange of research findings and ideas.

DGD director Mirjam Boekesteijn, DGD Director China Gert Dral, Westland’s mayor Bouke Arends, the agricultural attache at the Chinese embassy in the Netherland Mr Shupeng Yan, and Frederik Vossenaar, Special Envoy at the Dutch ministry of agriculture welcomed Nanjing’s trade delegation of government reps and business figures in Naaldwijk on 27 March 2023.

The Dutch business consortium Dutch Greenhouse Delta provides Dutch expertise in protected cropping. It helps growers around the world to produce ‘more crop per drop’ and with less pesticides.

A tour around the World Horti Centre gave the delegates a valuable insight into Dutch greenhouse horticulture with DGD partners Bayer – De Ruiter Seeds, Certhon, Lentiz, KUBO, Ridder, Signify and Van der Hoeven highlighting the world-leading capabilities the Netherlands has to offer to China’s horticulture sector.

In her speech the Deputy Secretary of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, Mr. Wenzu Shen, revealed some details about Nanjing’s and Jiangu Province’s agriculture development plan.
