More than 320,000 visitors attended IHK 2025 at Ilsan Lake Park, reflecting the exhibition’s strong public engagement and international profile.
The Goyang International Flower Festival, one of Asia’s leading ornamental showcases, closed its 2025 edition on 11 May with a record-breaking 320,000 visitors—up from 300,000 the previous year. Now in its 30th year, the event continues to position Korea as a rising force in the global horticulture scene.
Spanning 280,000 square metres at Ilsan Lake Park, the 17-day event provided more than a consumer spectacle. Its international exhibition halls, educational workshops, and professional awards programme underscored Goyang’s strategy to integrate ornamental breeding, floristry innovation, and global industry collaboration.
Recognised by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) as an approved international horticultural event, the Goyang Flower Festival serves as both a cultural celebration and an industry platform, reinforcing Korea’s credentials in ornamental plant innovation and global market engagement.

Among the horticultural highlights was the official debut of ‘Purpleia’, a new rose cultivar developed by Goyang City as part of a long-term municipal breeding initiative. Praised for its vibrant colour and bloom longevity under show conditions, Purpleia signals the city’s growing technical capability in ornamental R&D. Also drawing interest was ‘Echeveria Red Cocktail’, a distinctive Korean-bred succulent known for its red-hued, egg-shaped foliage—highlighting local expertise in responding to global market trends for novelty and collector plants.
The Goyang Flower Awards celebrated 90 outstanding works across nine categories, from preserved and fresh floral design to large-scale landscaping. The programme offered professionals an opportunity to benchmark creative and technical excellence on an international stage, with the top accolade—Korea’s Presidential Award—cementing the festival’s prestige.
Goyang Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, who also chairs the organising foundation, thanked the public and professional communities for their support. “We are proud to see Goyang’s floriculture sector gaining global attention. This festival is not only a celebration—it’s a platform for advancing horticultural knowledge and innovation.”
As Korea expands its footprint in ornamental breeding and exports, Goyang is emerging as a vital node linking domestic expertise with global networks.
