FlowerTrials is back in bloom and in-person after the Covid breaks

FCI May 2022: A wide variety of new plants and marketing concepts will showcase at this year’s FlowerTrials, returning for its 17th edition after a two-year absence.

From 14 to 17 June, 60 breeding companies in the Westland and Aalsmeer area (The Netherlands) and Rheinland Westfalen area (Germany) will open their doors at 29 locations, ready to show their latest assortment in bedding plants, patio plants, houseplants and edibles to young plant producers, growers, exporters and buyers from across the world.

This year, nine companies will debut at FlowerTrials, succeeding the traditional pack trials- spring trials – in early May. While the Spring Trials focuses on seed-based companies, FlowerTrials targets the entire supply chain.

Newcomers and re-entrants

Debuting at FlowerTrials are Polish Vitroflora, renowned for its extensive range of perennials, whereas Hortinno from Belgium specialises in indoor Azalea, outdoor japonica and Rhododendron. Denmark-based Graff Breeding offers high-quality Hibiscus, Poinsettia and Mandevilla. Hi-Breeding from The Netherlands will show its latest development in innovative Hydrangea breeding.

Back after a couple of years’ absence is the German Bruno Nebelung, owner of the famous Kiepenkerl brand. Nebelung breeds and distributes high-quality flower and vegetable seed varieties for home gardeners.

Also, HM. Clause from France breeds vegetable and flower OP varieties for gardening amateurs. The French Voltz Horticulture (Graines Voltz) offers seed and young plants to home gardeners and the professional market in Europe. Finally, two Italian companies have joined the group: Lazzeri is a breeder and young plant supplier of ornamental plants for Italy, whereas Sentier breeds and grows cyclamen and other young plants for the local and European market.

A new look

A new visual identity will give the brand a fresh and modern look. Stylised drawings of breeders, visitors and their assortment in fresh, attractive colours provide a new image to accompany the slogan ‘where plants meet people.’

Marjolein Kuyucu-Lodder, International Product Manager at Florensis and FlowerTrials Board Member: “Our new visuals are highly unique and will stand out in print and online applications. They will annually adjust while keeping the same style, allowing our brand identity to remain unique and modern, yet recognisable.”
