Final countdown to SIVAL

ANGERS, France: The return of the SIVAL trade show to the French town of Angers is less than a week away, and organisers are looking forward to offering attendees a long list of activities to take in during its three-day event.

SIVAL is one of France’s iconic agricultural trade shows gathering nearly 650 exhibitors (15% foreign exhibitors) and 24,000 professional visitors from 42 countries annually. The 2020 edition will take place in Angers, France from 14 to 16 January, covering 32,000m2 of exhibit space.

Each year, a select number of trend-setting innovations receive a SIVAL award.  Last year, in the category plant innovations, the jury recognised the sustainable character of Inra-ResDur’s line of four grape varieties with resistance to powdery mildew, awarding them a Gold Medal.

In the category Machinery and Automation Olmi scooped up the Silver Medal for its Vortex, pneumatic leaf removal machine for use in commercial apple production.

In the Services and Software category Agrithermic’s Hortinergy, the first online tool to help design energy-efficient greenhouses, won the Gold Medal.

With products and services to suit industry members of arboriculture, vegetable crops, seeds, viticulture, horticulture, medicinal, aromatic plants, cider, mushrooms, tobacco and more. The trade show’s expanded show floor and record registration reflect a vibrant industry ready to showcase the latest trends that make up the agriculture of tomorrow.

True to tradition, SIVAL offers an excellent educational programme, including conferences on the following topics: ‘will climate change alter tree production techniques?’ and ‘fruit production faced with climate change’.

Also, on the programme is a company tour to flower and plant cooperative Fleuron d’Anjou (80 members annual revenues €65 million).
