Ferry Huurman joins Keukenhof as director of operations

Ferry Huurman will join the world’s most famous spring garden Keukenhof as its director operations, effective 1 December 2024. Huurman and CEO Sandra Bechtholt will occupy Keukenhof’s board room together.

Ferry Huurman has worked for Rabobank for more than 30 years, of which the last three years as director Rabobank Bollenstreek (bulb district).

During his stint at Rabobank Huurman served in different roles: first as accountmanager, then as consultant and director of different divisions

In his latest position he grew even more acqainited with the bulb sector’s challenges and increasingly realised how valuable the industry is to the economy. Since January, Huurman accepted a role in the daily management of the Economic Board Duin & Bollenstreek.

Commenting on his new role at Keukenhof, Huurman says: “Each spring, it is a delight to see happy people flocking to Keukenhof from all over the globe. Keukenhof is an amazing spring garden and helping preserve the flower exhibition, estate and Keukenhof Castle for future generations is meaningful and rewarding. I look forward to doing my bit for this unique heritage.”

The chairman of the Board of the Count Carel van Lynden Foundation, Rob Haans says, “As Director of Operations, Ferry Huurman will be responsible for the operational management of the park when open plus staff activities such as finance, IT, HRM, legal affairs and the property portfolio. We are convinced that Ferry, together with Sandra, will make a valuable contribution to Keukenhof.”
