Entries for 2019 Show Your Colours IPM Award are to be unveiled

BOSKOOP, The Netherlands: The ‘Show Your Colours’ IPM Award will be presented at the 2019 Internationale Pflanzen Messe (IPM) trade fair in Essen, Germany on January 24. All perennial and woody plant exhibitors at this year’s IPM were invited to submit a plant with its background story. Eleven plants and concepts will be competing for the award.

Purchasing plants often goes hand-in-hand with emotion and perception. At the sales outlet, plants tend to be impulse buys which are guided by emotion. For this reason, it is important to attract the attention of the customer at the moment of purchase. This, in a nutshell, is what the Show Your Colours Award is all about.

The eleven entries for the 2019 Show Your Colours Award IPM are:

1. Camellia japonica ‘Winter Perfume Pink & Pearl’ submitted by Van Son & Koot (NL)
2. Cordyline-Mix, submitted by About Plants Zundert (NL)
3. Corokia virgata ‘Maori Green & Maori Silver’, submitted by Addenda (NL)
4. Cyclamen persicum Indiaka (in different colours), submitted by Morel Diffusion SAS (F)
5. Dianthus Pink Kisses, submitted by Selecta One (D)
6. Hydrangea macrophylla x H. scandens ‘French Bolero’, submitted by Vegepolys (F)
7. Laurus nobilis ‘Feel Green Kitchen Bay tree’, submitted by GOVA Decorum (NL)
8. Lavandula intermedia ‘Phenomenal’, submitted by Joh. Stolwijk & Söhne (NL)
9. Lucky Berry 4-month strawberry submitted by Diederk Heinje e.a. (D)
10. Rubus-Mix, submitted by Jungheim Boomkwekerijen (NL)
11. Wonder Tree fruit trees, submitted by Fruithof (NL).

A token system allows visitors to vote at the fair. Voting will close around noon on Thursday 24^th January at the BIZZ Holland, 8A40 in Hall 8. On Thursday afternoon, the plants, and their stories, will be judged by an expert jury consisting of Linda Hoogendoorn-Veelenturf, director of Stichting Beurshal, Sytse Berends Blunt Communicatieadvies, Oliver Mathys ‘I green you’, Andreas Henk trade journalist Gabot – Das Gartenbau Portal and Oliver P. Kuhrt Messe Essen.

The jurys’ verdict, together with visitors’ votes will produce one overall winner. The award ceremony will take place approximately 3.00 pm on Thursday 24 January in the BIZZ Holland stand.

The Show Your Colours Award IPM 2019 is a joint initiative of Messe Essen and BIZZ Communications.
